Kevin and the Old Sock
My darling Kevin,
This is a letter I wrote to your Great-Grandpa today: “Dear Grandpa,
Kevin is growing so fast, it’s amazing! He has doubled his birth weight and is 10 cm longer than when he was born. He is a wonderful boy and now sleeps right though the night from 10 pm to 7 am, which suits us perfectly. It’s such fun to watch his skills developing. He holds his head very well and turns it in order to follow our movements. He can now roll from his back onto his side, and when placed on his belly, lifts his whole head and shoulders well clear of the floor, to devour everything with his gaze. He has only just started grasping with his hands, but so far spurns all the pretty plastic toys he owns, in favour of an old sock, which he enjoys kneading!
Best of all are his smiles and chuckles! When he’s really having fun and frolics with his Daddy, he sometimes gives a loud and rather raucous burst of laughter! His squeals can be quite ear-piercing too. And of course, when he’s feeding in my arms, or asleep on my shoulder, I can honestly say I have never known such happiness.”
